Timetables for Coventry’s 60, 61 and 703 bus routes are set to change from this Sunday, 23rd August, following the appointment of a new operator.
Bus operator Stagecoach has taken over the contract to run the 60 and 703 routes which call at key locations around the city including University Hospital Coventry.
These routes operate with a subsidy from Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), which is part of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
All buses on this route will now be numbered 60 running both directions between University of Warwick and Arena Park.
Some journeys will also extend to serve Westwood Academy in line with school start and finish times.
The 703 will operate to the same route as currently, but with a revised timetable
Passengers are encouraged to check the new timetables for journeys after August 23, these are available on the West Midlands Network website.
Cllr Kath Hartley, chair of TfWM’s Transport Delivery Committee said: “We are delighted to be working with Stagecoach to provide this valuable service for customers, and ensure that passengers are able to reach key locations in Coventry – including the hospital, university, JLR works and shopping areas.
“We would also like to thank Travel de Courcey for the service they have provided on this route over the last few years and wish them well with the other services they operate in the city.”
Mark Whitelocks, Stagecoach Midlands' Managing Director, said; 'We're delighted to be taking on these local services in Coventry and look forward to working with Transport for West Midlands to see existing and new customers travel with us.
“The 60 and 703 routes serve key areas of the city and we appreciate what a crucial link they play for people using public transport in Coventry.”
The new contract for the 60 and 703 comes ahead of changes to timetables for buses in Coventry operated by National Express West Midlands starting on August 30th.
Bus frequency is being increased as people return to work and school following the lockdown. For full details on the changes, timetables and to plan journeys visit https://www.wmnetwork.co.uk/
