A452 and A446 Northway Island

What’s happening?

Major transport improvements are happening in the east of Birmingham and Solihull area. These include: 

  • HS2 - Britain’s new high-speed railway
  • improvements to junction 6 of the M42
  • the new Sprint bus route along the A45

During the work, the way you travel in the area will change. There will be disruption to: 

  • junction 6 of the M42
  • the A452
  • the A446
  • the A45

A452 and A446 Northway Island

From Monday 28 June to Tuesday 20 July a variety of temporary traffic measures will be installed in the Interchange area.

There will be temporary 24-hour traffic lights installed on a short section of the A452 from Monday 28 June to Tuesday 6 July.

The following traffic measures will also be in place in July:

  • Temporary lane closures from 9.30am to 3.30pm each weekday, between Thursday 8 July to Friday 16 July, along a short section of the A446 northbound near Northway Island.
  • Temporary, phased lane closures from 9.30am to 3.30pm each weekday between Monday 12 July to Thursday 15 July, and Monday 19 July to Tuesday 20 July, along sections of the A446, A452 and A45 near Stonebridge Island.

Travel tips

You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:

Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey. If you travel, you’ll need more time for your journey to take account of changes and diversions.
