B4438 and A452 near Northway Island

What’s happening?

Major transport improvements are happening in the east of Birmingham and Solihull area. These include: 

  • HS2 - Britain’s new high-speed railway
  • improvements to junction 6 of the M42
  • the new Sprint bus route along the A45

During the work, the way you travel in the area will change. There will be disruption to: 

  • junction 6 of the M42
  • the A452
  • the A446
  • the A45

B4438 and A452 near Northway Island

From Friday 3 December to Monday 6 December a number of temporary traffic measures will be placed on and around Northway Island:

  • Birmingham Business Park entrance and exist off Northway Island will be closed from 8pm on Friday 3 December to 4am on Monday 6 December. Throughout the closure, access to the park will be maintained off the B4438 via Progress Way.
  • Sections of the B4438 and A452 Northbound will be from 8pm Friday 3 December to 12noon on Saturday 4 December and from 8pm on Saturday 4 December to 12noon on Sunday 5 December. 
  • On Saturday 4 December and Sunday 5 December, from 12noon to 8pm each day, HS2 will be installing alternating single lane closures along short sections of the B4438 and A452 northbound

A signed diversion route will be in place for road users during the weekend road closure.
