Camp Hill Line stations: Frequently Asked Questions

West Midlands Railway will be running this service. 

The Camp Hill Line will link local communities from Kings Norton station and Birmingham New Street via Pineapple Road, Kings Heath and Moseley.  
 
In addition, passengers can change to Cross City South services towards Redditch and link to National Rail services at Birmingham New Street station. The modern trains will be made up of four carriages.

The services will run twice an hour in each direction, apart from Sundays where services will run hourly.

  • The average journey time from Pineapple Road station to Birmingham New Street station is 14 minutes. That is potentially up to one hour quicker than travelling by car.
  • The average journey time from Kings Heath station to Birmingham New Street station is 11 minutes. That is potentially up to 50 minutes quicker than travelling by car.
  • The average journey time from Moseley Village station to Birmingham New Street station is 8 minutes. That is potentially up to 40 minutes quicker than travelling by car.

Network Rail and West Midlands Trains have started essential safety testing at the stations as well as beginning to get existing drivers familiar with the new route. It is expected that this work, which got underway in December, will take about three months 

There is no parking at the new Camp Hill stations. Please use our Journey Planner to check which bus services stop nearby.

Kings Norton station has capacity for 321 cars including a number of spaces for Blue Badge holders as part of its park and ride facilities.   

Yes, sheltered bike storage facilities will be available at the new stations for cyclists. These facilities are covered by CCTV for additional passenger safety and security.  

An unlimited number of folding bikes can be taken on the train.

The stations will be unstaffed, therefore train tickets to all destinations will be available from self-service ticket machines, train operator websites and apps. Your safety is very important so CCTV will be monitoring all Ticket Vending Machine transactions.    

Yes, passes are accepted from 9.30am to 11.59pm on this line.  

Yes, passes and tickets will be accepted. These stations are in nNetwork Zone 3.

All the stations have step free access with wide bridges and lifts to connect to both platforms.

The first service will begin between 6:00am and 7:00am Monday to Saturday and continue until between 11:00pm and midnight. On Sundays, services will begin between 9:00am and 10:00am, then continue hourly until around 10:00pm.
