On a Swift child photocard, you can load:
- most child bus and tram tickets
- train child season tickets
Child tickets are 50% off the adult rate.
Getting a new Swift child photocard
All Swift child photocards need to be linked with an adult Swift account.
- Use our ticket finder to find the best ticket for your child
- Press 'Buy on Swift'
- Log into or create your Swift account
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase
- Your ticket will automatically be loaded onto your child's photocard
- The card will be ready to use when it arrives in the post within 5 working days
Adding a ticket to an existing Swift child photocard
If your child already has a photocard, you can purchase your ticket using our ticket finder.
- Use our ticket finder to find the best ticket for your child
- Press 'Buy on Swift'
- Log into your Swift account
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase
- You will then need to 'collect' your ticket onto the Swift child photo card using the TfWM app. You can also do this at a Swift Kiosk or an on-street Swift Collector machine.
Using a Swift child photocard
On the bus, hold your card next to the reader. Wait for the green light or beep.
On the tram, hand your card to the conductor. They will scan it for you.
On the train, hand your card to the conductor. You can also hold your card on the yellow reader to open entry and exit gates at stations.
You’ll need to renew the following 1-week, 4-week or term passes:
- Bus
- Bus and tram
- Train
- Network (1 week and 4 week only)
You can renew a pass online:
1. Log into your Swift account
2. Select the pass you want to renew
3. Make your payment
4. Add the new ticket to the Swift card by using the TfWM app. This is called 'collecting'. You can also collect it at one of our on-street Swift Collectors.
If you pay by Direct Debit, your ticket will renew each month. You do not need to do anything.
You can buy tickets for a Swift child photo card:
- from your local Payzone store
- at a self-service Swift kiosk or ticket machine
- on a bus or tram
- at a train station
Your photocard has a date on it. You cannot use your card to buy any new tickets after this date.
You can still use any tickets that are already on your card.
If your are under 16 but look older, you can get a free under-16 photocard to prove your age.

Lost Swift cards can be replaced so long as:
- the card is registered
- there is an existing product on the card with more than 7 days remaining
You can replace your card by calling 0345 303 6760 or if you are a direct debit customer you can online.
Replacement cards can take up to 5 working days to arrive depending on the post. The fee for a replacement card is £7.50.
Stolen Swift cards can be replaced free of charge so long as:
- the card is registered
- there is an existing product on the card with more than 7 days remaining
- you have a valid crime reference number
You can replace your card by calling 0345 303 6760.
Replacement cards can take up to 5 working days to arrive depending on the post.
