How to get to a hospital

There are lots of public transport options available to help make your journey to the hospital easier. Most hospitals also have car parks.

If you cannot take public transport or drive, you might be able to book a Ring and Ride journey to visit a hospital.

Free shuttle bus

You can catch a free shuttle bus between car parks and:

  • Queen Elizabeth (QE) Hospital
  • Birmingham Women's Hospital

The service runs from 7am to 7pm on weekdays. It is run by Q-Park.

The bus will drop you off outside the QE main entrance and emergency department entrance.

Some hospitals have volunteers who provide transport. Ask your hospital's general office to see if this is available.

Help with travelling expenses

You might be able to get help with travelling expenses if you:

  • go into hospital for treatment
  • come out of hospital after treatment
  • go to an outpatients appointment
