A Mother’s Missing Years
A mum mourns the milestones and moments she’ll never get to share with her daughter:
Dear Lily-May,
I still can’t believe I’m writing to you instead of chatting with you as we always did. The unforgivable actions of the driver who took your life mean I’ve lost not only my daughter but also my best friend. It’s not the natural order for a mother to lose her child at just 17.
All our adventures and plans stopped that day. I never got to celebrate your 18th, 19th, or 20th birthdays, or see you finish college and achieve the amazing things I know you would have done.
We miss your smile, your laughter, and your presence every single day. I talk to you always, telling you how loved you are. Our laughter now holds an emptiness - it’s never the same without you.
We love you, Lily-May, always and forever, and we carry your light in everything we do.
With love,
Mum xxx
