I Wonder If You Ever Think of Me

A victim speaks to the driver who walked free while her life stood still:

To The Accused,

I wonder.

I didn’t know you and never will. I never met you until that day in court, saw you sitting, facing the judge to be sentenced. I wonder what you thought when you escaped a jail sentence, walked from court a free man.

I didn’t.

My life had stopped; I didn’t know life how life could go on. I went to bed at night and didn’t want to wake up. I wonder, did you ever think of me, what you had taken from me, a life that was gone forever.

I wonder, how you lived your life after that day. You were to be married, may have children, but I wonder do you ever stop and think of me, the life I was forced to face.

I have forgiven you to keep my sanity but I live forever with what you did.

I wonder, do you ever think of me…
