What’s happening?
A large investment programme is taking place in the borough of Dudley.
A number of key projects have already been completed with construction for further projects in the town centre and surrounding areas taking place alongside each other over the next couple of years.
MMA Tram construction activity will continue throughout 2026 and the old Dudley bus station site is undergoing a significant redevelopment to become the modern and sustainable Dudley Bus Interchange.
Highway works are also taking place at Burnt Tree Junction to improve bus journey times and help those walking and cycling around the main roads in this area.
Castle Hill, Dudley
From Saturday 30 May to Monday 8 June 2026, between 19.00 to 05.00, Castle Hill will be closed to all westbound traffic between Trindle Road and Castle Street for tram track finishing works.
The carriageway towards Dudley town centre will be fully closed overnight, with many bus routes following diversions as they travel into Dudley.
Dudley bound NX Bus services: X8, 7, 11/11A, 12, 74, 87 and 126 will follow diversions from 19.00 to 05.00 will take place from Saturday 30 May to Monday 8 June 2026. Certain bus stops will not be served so please plan your journey and check your bus stop and bus route before travelling.
Dudley bound Diamond Bus services: 12A, 14 and 19 will be re-routed around Birmingham New Road to Aldi, then continue onto Priory Road and along Broadway to resume the normal line of route into Dudley. Dudley College and Castle Hil bus stops will not be served.
Local signed diversions will be in place for all vehicles.
