Eastside Birmingham City Centre
Moor Street Queensway
Ends: Ongoing
Last updated: 3 October 2025

What’s happening?
The Eastside of Birmingham City Centre is set to be transformed through a multimillion pound regeneration project, led by Birmingham City Council, to improve housing, office and leisure space.
With the extension of the metro line, the opening of HS2 Curzon Street Station and the introduction of new Sprint routes, the area will be one of the most connected parts of city and become a better area to live, work, study and visit.
Whilst work takes place, you may experience disruption to your journey. There will be changes to the way you travel to and from some parts of the city centre. Please plan ahead and remember to check your journey regularly.
Please check back regularly for the most up-to-date information.

What's happening?
The work on the much-anticipated Birmingham Eastside Metro Extension has continued to progress and main track construction activity has been completed along Lower Bull Street, down Albert Street, past the Clayton Hotel.
Late night trams are now being tested before driver training and timetable testing takes place over the next couple of months.
Passenger services on the Metro will start in Autumn 2025 to the new temporary terminus by Eastside Park.
This direct tram link will help many bus passengers get to bus stops and bus services in the Moor Street Bus Interchange.
There will be changes to bus stops in this area from September 2025
Please plan ahead and remember to check your journey regularly.

Travel Tips
You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:
The key travel advice is as follows:
- If you usually get on or off your bus by Moor Street Station, New Street Station, Carrs Lane or Priory Queensway; your bus route is still operating and you are still able to get it, close to where you usually do. However, the stop you need to get on and off at may have changed.
- Your bus stop may have changed so plan ahead; check your journey in both directions of travel.
- Familiarise yourself with any changes to your stop; another route/stop might suit your destination better.
