Willenhall area

Bilston Street

Ends: 7 September 2026

Last updated: 5 February 2026

What’s happening?

We're building two new railway stations along the Walsall – Wolverhampton line at Darlaston and Willenhall.

Willenhall station will provide quicker and more reliable journeys to places like Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall, reducing congestion and pollution.

The station will be equipped with two platforms, lifts, ticket machines, information screens and secure bike parking. Rail services will be starting shortly from this station running to Wolverhampton and Birmingham.

You can view more information about the new stations here

In addition, work is being carried out throughout 2026 to create a network of improved cycling routes in the Willenhall area and along the A454 corridor.

In order to build these segregated cycle paths, a series of highway works are taking place along A454 Willenhall Road, New Road and Somerford Place.

Please check back here regularly for updates on local road closures and bus diversions in this area.

Bilston Street

Walsall Council are still retaining the traffic signals on Bilston Street during the day to build a new cycle route linking the new rail station to further cycle lanes in the area.

Traffic will continue to flow one way only northbound, controlled by temporary traffic signals.
