Willenhall area
Willenhall Station
Ends: 7 September 2026
Last updated: 25 September 2025

What’s happening?
We're building two new railway stations along the Walsall – Wolverhampton line at Darlaston and Willenhall.
Willenhall station will provide quicker and more reliable journeys to places like Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall, reducing congestion and pollution.
The station will be equipped with two platforms, lifts, ticket machines, information screens and secure bike parking.
In addition, work is being carried out throughout 2025 to create a network of improved cycling routes in the Willenhall area and along the A454 corridor.
In order to build these segregated cycle paths, a series of highway works are taking place along A454 Willenhall Road, New Road and Somerford Place.
Please check back here regularly for updates on local road closures and bus diversions in this area.
Willenhall Station
Essential works will begin on Bilston Street, Willenhall from March 2025 as part of the construction of the new Willenhall Railway Station. To carry out these works safely:
- Bilston Street and Rose Hill will be closed to southbound traffic from 24 March through to summer 2025.
- Bilston Street Bridge will remain open for pedestrians and cyclists throughout.
- A signed diversion route will be in place, directing traffic via A462/Shepwell Green for B4590/Bilston Lane and B4464/Somerford Place for A454/The Keyway.
- Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
