West Bromwich - Chelmsley Wood
The Cross City Bus West Bromwich - Chelmsley Wood route is looking at changes to the roads along the route that is used by the 74 bus service west of Birmingham city centre and the 97 service east of the city centre.
This map shows the Cross-City Bus corridor running from West Bromwich to Chelmsley Wood, with a total of 14 route sections. The route connects West Bromwich, Handsworth, Birmingham city centre, Bordesley Green, Stechford and Lea Hall, before finishing at Chelmsley Wood.

- West Bromwich Ringway, Bull St and High St
- Birmingham Rd (between Beeches Rd and M5)
- Junction of Holyhead Rd & Island Rd
- Holyhead Rd (between Island Rd and Rookery Rd)
- Soho Rd (between Rookery Rd and Villa Rd)
- Soho Hill (between Villa Rd and Hockley Circus)
- City Centre
- Garrison Ln (between Garrison Circus and Witton St)
- Bordesley Green junction with Victoria Rd
- Bordesley Green (Victoria St and Third Ave)
- Bordesley Green junction with Churchill Rd
- Bordesley Green at Belchers Ln and Heartlands Hospital
- Meadway junction with Lea Hall Rd
- Tile Cross Rd (bewteen Meadway and Bosworth Dr)
Why it's happening
These changes will speed up existing bus services and make them more reliable. By improving the reliability of buses, we can also look at introducing new longer services where you won’t need to change buses in Birmingham.
