Consultations and Engagement

Consultations focus on gathering community views and feedback on a specific proposal or project that is linked to a decision-making process. An example of this is seeking feedback on new interventions along a bus route.

Engagement is about building relationships between us and our communities and involving people more deeply in shaping our projects and decisions. Engagement isn’t about collecting opinions once, it’s about working with community members, stakeholders and partners over time through things like workshops, focus groups and consistent communication.

Your opinions count

Our goal at Transport for West Midlands is to make this region the best place to live, work and visit. Community consultation and community engagement is the way that we are able to listen to your views and take on board your ideas to help shape the future of the West Midlands.

How do you help us?

By sharing your experiences, ideas and perspectives, you help us to:

  • Improve public transport services
  • Inform our policies and strategies
  • Shape the decisions the Combined Authority makes

There are several ways we gather people’s ideas and opinions. We work to ensure that everyone can take part. We aim to make our community engagement work as inclusive and accessible as possible. Ways that you can get involved include:

  • Sharing your opinions in our online surveys via our engagement platform Commonplace
  • Joining us at our pop-up events across the West Midlands to have your say
  • Completing questionnaires
  • Taking part in our focus groups
  • Signing up to our mailing list to be kept up to date on consultations and community engagements
