Safer Travel Partnership

We want to make sure public transport in the West Midlands is safe. The Safer Travel Partnership helps us do this.

It is a partnership between:

  • West Midlands Police
  • British Transport Police
  • Transport for West Midlands

Our transport network is one of the safest in the UK. Almost all types of crime have reduced every year since 2008.

The Safer Travel Partnership has:

  • a team of police officers who patrol the network
  • a control room with access to 1,000 CCTV cameras

We monitor the CCTV cameras 24 hours a day. This helps us spot incidents at bus stops, tram stops and rail stations.

The Safer Travel Partnership has a passenger code of conduct. This is for people travelling in the West Midlands. We promote the code of conduct in schools and colleges.

The partnership also helps people to improve safety for bikes. It offers bike marking sessions and discounted D-locks at our travel centres.

Reporting anti-social behaviour

People can report anti-social behaviour through the ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign. The Safer Travel Partnership investigates reports.
