Dudley Regeneration

Castle Hill, Dudley

Ends: 23 March 2025

Last updated: 25 June 2025

What’s happening?

A programme of investment in the borough of Dudley began in 2019.

A number of key projects have already completed in Dudley town centre and further projects are planned over the next few years with construction for some developments running alongside each other.

Castle Hill, Dudley

From Monday 11 August for a period of up to eleven weeks, there will be road closure on Castle Hill towards Dudley. Traffic will continue to flow downhill, towards Castlegate Island throughout.

The road work will involve the installation and programming of permanent traffic signals, paving, kerb and signpost remediations and additional lighting column installation amongst other activities. Works will take place on following phases:

  • Monday 11 August – Sunday 5 October: traffic to flow down zoo side of Castle Hill;
  • Monday 6 – Sunday 19 October: traffic will flow down the casino side of Castle Hill, with no access to Trindle Road from Castlegate Island;
  • Monday 20 – Friday 24 October: overnight restrictions will be in place as work occurs on both sides of Castle Hill (one at a time).

Travel tips

You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:

Please plan ahead. You will be able to go where you need to go but your journey may take longer.
Please allow extra time. There are bus route diversions in place and traffic may be busier in certain areas of Dudley. Check bus timetables and plan ahead to keep moving. Your journey or connecting stop maybe a further walk away
Plan in advance. If you are travelling by car, consider using an alternative route to avoid the disruption completely, for real time traffic updates follow @wmroads on X.
Consider active travel. For shorter journeys, you could walk or cycle to your destination.
