What’s happening?
Villa Park in Aston will be hosting major concerts this summer, featuring globally renowned artists. These events are expected to attract large crowds and may impact traffic and transport services in and around Birmingham on the following dates:
- Black Sabbath - Saturday 5 July (Gates open at 11:00)
- Kendrick Lamar & SZA - Thursday 10 July (Gates open at 16:00)
The local area around Villa Park is expected to be very busy on concert days. For stress free and easy journeys please use public transport where possible. Further information on how to get to Aston Villa is available here.

How to get there
If you’re attending any of these concerts at Aston Villa Park and planning on travelling by car, bus, metro or train, this is what you need to know:
By Train
Travelling by train is one of the most direct ways to travel to Villa Park. There will be additional services on rail to and from Witton and Aston stations on concert days.
- For the Black Sabbath concert, the last train from Witton station to Rugeley Trent Valley is 10:37pm and from Witton station to Birmingham New Street at 11:48pm.
- For the Kendrick Lamar & SZA concert, the last train from Witton station to Rugeley Trent Valley is at 11:32pm and from Witton station to Birmingham New Street at 11:48pm
By Bus:
By Shuttle Bus:
- For the Black Sabbath concert, the shuttle bus will run from 8am-1pm with the return shuttle from 8pm until midnight.
- For the Kendrick Lamar & SZA concert, the shuttle bus will run from 3:30pm-7:30pm with the return shuttle from 10pm until midnight.
By Tram:
Trams will be operating from usual to and from Wolverhampton and Birmingham City Centre. For onward travel from Birmingham please use direct trains, buses or shuttle buses to get to Aston Villa.
By Park & Ride
You can also use one of our Park & Ride sites: The Hawthorns, Wednesbury Parkway, Black Lake, Bradley Lane and Priestfield and then hop on public transport for the rest of your journey.

By Car
The junction of Birchfield Road and Aston Lane leading towards Perry Barr and A38M may be congested before and after the concert. Additionally, there will be road closures around the venue. If you’re planning to drive, please check the 'Road Closures' section below for our latest travel advice and plan to leave earlier to minimise any disruption to your journey.
Road Closures
Black Sabbath – Saturday, 5th July
- The Black Sabbath concert will see the following roads closed the evening prior to the concert from 8pm Friday 4th July until approximately midnight on Saturday 5th July:
- Trinity Road - between the junctions with Witton Lane and Nelson Road
- Witton Lane - from Witton Island to Trinity Road
The Kendrick Lamar & SZA concert on Thursday 10th July will see the following roads closed from 1pm until approximately midnight:- Trinity Road - between the junctions with Witton Lane and Nelson Road
- Witton Lane - from Witton Island to Trinity Road
