What’s happening?

Over the next ten years there is around £1.3bn of investment planned for the West Midlands Metro to create a more connected public transport network and region. 

The extensions are planned, designed and constructed by Midland Metro Alliance on behalf of West Midlands Combined Authority.

Birmingham Eastside Extension

The Eastside extension will provide new and improved public transport links to the East of Birmingham City Centre and Digbeth and will connect HS2 Curzon Street Station to the Metro network.

Birmingham Westside Extension

The first phase of works between Grand Central to Centenary Square are now complete and the second phase towards Edgbaston has begun.

Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Extension

This extension will create a connection between the current Metro line to Tipton, Dudley and on to Brierley Hill, with an additional 15 stops created.

Wolverhampton City Centre Extension

The Wolverhampton City Centre Extension will connect the existing Metro line to the bus and rail stations allowing easy interchange with all modes of transport.
