Congestion Management Plan
page last updated 10 October 2018
As a rapidly growing region with a fast-paced economy, the West Midlands is seeing unprecedented levels of investment in its public transport system and roads, with more than £3.4bn committed over the next 10 years. This is in addition to investment in the high speed rail line between London and the West Midlands, HS2.
Transport for West Midlands' 10 point Congestion Management Plan details how we will make sure the West Midlands remains open for business while improvements are made.
The plan has been developed in collaboration with partners including Highways England, Network Rail, local authorities and transport operators and is built around three key pillars;
- Improving capacity
on our road and public transport networks
- Improving efficiency
by building a more reliable network and;
- Managing demand
by encouraging people to plan ahead, consider making changes to their journeys and use public transport wherever possible.
Our aim is to deliver a world-class integrated transport system, one which supports the needs of a growing population and is fit for the future.
