Pay with Swift

You can now Pay with Swift when hiring a WM Cycle bike or parking your car.

What is Pay with Swift?

Pay with Swift allows you to use the payment methods stored in your Swift account (Swift Go balance, stored debit or credit cards) to pay for 3rd party services. Providing you with security and peace of mind. 

Where can I use it?

Pay with Swift is currently available in the Beryl Bikes App and to pay for parking at the Longbridge Park & Ride location.

What is the Beryl Bikes App?

Beryl Bikes allows you to find, unlock and pay for a hire bike from one of the Beryl Bikes Bays in the West Midlands!

How do I use Swift to pay for my WM cycle bike hire?

1. When prompted to choose a payment method, select the option to Pay with Swift.

2. Now you'll need to log into your existing Swift account.

3. Once logged in, you will see a summary of your payment methods in your Swift account.

4. We'll ask you to authorise Beryl Bikes to take payment from your Swift account.

5. Set a payment preference and click continue to finalise pay with Swift set up.

You will now Pay with Swift when you hire a WM Cycle bike.

What is a payment preference?

You can set a payment preference when you set up pay with Swift. You can choose to always be asked to approve Beryl Bikes charges or not be asked for approval again.

  • If you choose "always ask" - Every time you hire a bike, you will need to approve Beryl Bikes to charge your Swift account. You will have the option to change this preference in the Beryl Bikes app when you hire a bike. Simply click ‘Yes- don’t ask me again’ when prompted to approve Beryl Bikes charges.
  • If you choose "don't ask" - Your Swift account will be charged each time you hire a bike. Hiring a bike will be much quicker, you can just unlock the bike and go.

When will payment be taken from my Swift account?

You are charged for bike hire after riding. Payment will be taken daily at 8 am. For example, if you had a bike ride 7–7:30 am, payment will be taken at 8 am the same day. If you had a bike ride at 10- 11 am, payment will be taken at 8 am the following day.

How do I see my charge history?

You can see a breakdown of your charges in the Beryl Bikes app. Open the Beryl Bikes app, click on “billing and payments” in the main menu and click on “transaction history”. You can also see this in your payment history when you log into your Swift account.

I am having a problem with my account or with trying to pay using my Swift account. What do I do?

Error 100:  There is a Swift payment issue

If you've seen this code please check the following:

  1. You need to have a Swift account to use Pay with Swift.
    • If you have a Swift account you need to have a payment method saved (stored debit/credit card/Swift Go balance).
    • To add a debit or credit card, go to the “payment details” section in your Swift account.
    • If you don't have a Swift account, create one here.
  2.  Is your Swift account inactive or closed? You need to set up a new Swift account and add a payment method to use pay with Swift. Once you have set up an account you will need to return to the Beryl app to set up Pay with Swift.
  3. Is your Swift account is in arrears or is there insufficient funds? You need to make a payment in your Swift account to continue with your bike hire.

Important: You must add a suitable payment method by visiting the “payment details” section in your Swift account. You will not able to Pay with Swift until you do this.

Error 103:  There is a Swift payment issue

If you've seen this code please check the following:

Check that you have a valid payment method in your Swift account.

  • Make sure you have a bank card saved in your Swift account.
  • Check that your bank card has not expired or been cancelled.
  • Check that your mobility credit balance is above zero.

Important: Please update your account with a suitable payment method by visiting the “payment details” section in your Swift account.

What is Swift Go?

Swift Go is our flexible capping solution for tram and most buses in the West Midlands.

Swift Go can also be used to pay for parking at selected car parks.

Either top-up your Swift Go balance or store a bank card in your Swift account and never worry about your parking fees anymore.

How do I pay for parking using Swift Go?

  1. Log into or sign up to your Swift account
  2. Set up Swift Go and select car parking as an additional service in the menu
  3. If you already have Swift Go, just switch Swift Go parking on in your Swift Go account
  4. Provide a valid VRN for your car
  5. Make sure that there is a payment method attached to your Swift Go
  6. We will scan your plate when you enter the car park
  7. Once you leave the car park, we will calculate your parking fee and charge your Swift Go account
  8. No need to pay and display, no paying upfront, no app necessary
  9. You can view all your parking fees in your Swift Go account
